Und das nicht zu überhören: Geprägt von Songwriter-Skills und elektronischer Dancefloor-Expertise haben die Tracks etwas ansteckend Lebendiges an sich. Die Konstante im Sound von Mollono.Bass ist, dass er im Puls der Zeit in immer neue Richtungen tänzelt. MAZ’N wiederum hat seine musikalische Leidenschaft als Sänger und Pianist in vielen verschiedenen Bands und Rollen ausgelebt. Deshalb ist es kaum möglich, WOODKIN mit einzelnen Genres zu beschreiben. Die organische Wärme von House und der melodische Rumms von Techno sind wichtige Elemente, ebenso die Aufbruchstimmung von Indie Dance, und nicht zuletzt natürlich die emotionale Zugkraft des Gesangs, in der sich eine moderne, elektronische Spielart von Pop spiegelt. Das selbstbetitelte Album fasst diese Flut von Gefühl und Bewegung in einem mitreißenden Gesamterlebnis zusammen, das auf der heimischen Anlage, den Kopfhörern in der U-Bahn, im Halbdunkel des Clubs oder auf der großen Anlage eines staubigen Open-Air Nachmittags einen fantastischen Soundtrack liefert.

It’s hard not to notice when you watch their creative dialogue unfolding on stage, clearly reminiscent of the real-time dynamics of a concert. It’s also very noticeable when listening: Built on songwriting skills and carried by dancefloor expertise, the tracks have a pronounced vibe of something that is alive. The most consistent thing about the sound of Mollono.Bass is that it takes new directions all the time. MAZ’N on the other hand has given expression to his musical passion as singer and piano player in a variety of bands and roles. In consequence, it’s impossible to pin down WOODKIN to a particular genre. The organic warmth of House and the melodic momentum of Techno are important factors, and so is the open-minded attitude of Indie Dance – and last but not least there is the emotional catchiness of the voice, which reflects some sort of modern, electronic take on Pop.
